When I consider this print I feel that it conveys so much more than I am able to articulate. ‘Connected’ is a landscape image that I set out to create.
Most of my images and photography is observation and a specific moment in time. Other than find a viewpoint and wait for the light and a decisive moment I don’t manipulate or influence the image, and over the body of my work that carries it’s own message.
With ‘Connected’ I was exploring land art, looking for concepts and finding ways of visually communicating them. It’s actually quite challenging but I felt that I had created an image that portrayed that the sum is greater than the parts. This is true of organisations, society and relationships and when we are able to connect, we can bridge divides and chasms that would otherwise keep us separated. With no regard for the consequences a connection is made and the individual entities are linked. This has both positive and negative consequences.
Connections are fragile and at times tenuous always in need of balance.
