Exploring Moments:
Your Window to Captivating Photographs
Whales can be really tricky to photograph as most of the whale is under the water but occasionally a tail will present itself and here the rivulets of water cascading off it’s tail, illuminated by the backlit sun, makes for a memorable shot.
Schools of Humpback Whales have become prevalent on the Atlantic Seaboard around Cape Town and up the west coast over the last 5 or so years with Superpods of adolescent Humpbacks feeding collectively. I have been fortunate to witness a variety of groups in the last few years, the largest made up of about 60-70 individuals. Earlier this summer we chanced across this group of about 15-20 about 2 miles out to sea. The audible experience is one of my favorite things in the world and although their breath smells a bit it is the most lovely sound.
