Exploring Moments:
Your Window to Captivating Photographs
A spectacular view of the Mother City, Cape Town with the 12 Apostles trailing, in the late afternoon light.
The great thing about this shot is that the light, shadow and angle all work together to show how Lion’s Head gets it’s name. The rump being Signal Hill and the head clearly show the form of a lion laying down across the front of the city. In days gone by when everyone arrived by ship you saw it as you arrived. Nowadays people fly in and don’t get to witness it. I was surprised by how many local people and even guides never knew why it’s called Lion’s Head. There is always an AHA! moment in the gallery when I point it out to guests as they recognise it.
