Scale, Shingwedzi  is one of my all time favourite wilderness pictures.

Taken in the northern part of the Kruger National Park, it’s an unassuming image and at first glance people often pass by.

Occasionally someone will see the leopard and take a closer look. As your eyes move from left to right you take in the leopard crossing the sandy riverbank, your eye pauses on the small herd of elephants on the waters edge, and  then as you continue your eyeward journey across to the right they come to rest on the stars of the scene, the mighty Sycamore Figs.

When you have seen elephants and understand how big they are, the size of the trees is put into context, hence the name ‘Scale”
