‘Smoke that Thunders’ Victoria Falls, Zambia

The ‘Smoke that Thunders’  or ‘Mosi oa Tunya’ is the world’s largest waterfall and a true natural spectacle to be experienced.

Spray plumes up from the vast mass of water rushing over the vast edge and locals that guided Livingstone to it  on his explorations knew it as the “Smoke that Thunders”. It lifts hundreds of meters into the air and creates it’s own micro climate and I experienced a violent hailstorm whilst I was there taking this photograph. Fortunately I had a large umbrella.

Recent droughts have caused the falls to recede markedly but it is still a sight to behold.
